Think I've almost finished modding the old VCR case to put all the PVR bits in it. Unfortunately, the PSU motherboard power cable is a bit a=on the short side for where i have located it so I'm gonna have to find some sort of extension cable for it or mod it somehow confused

Also got to look into DVD-writers and see if I can find some nice small drives that will fit into the snug space left in the case

Actaully had some free time this weekend and got time to work on my VCRPVR project! biggrin

I've uploaded the latest photos which can be seen off of my User Page

Just been modding the old VCR case so far to fit all the PVR components inside it. Although I'm not putting a CD or DVD drive in it at the moment, I'm leaving space for one in the future. Should go nicely wear the VCR tape eject hole is mrgreen

Spoke to Gunther Mayer about setting up a mirror of his BTTV Gallery at http://home.t-online.de/home/gunther.mayer/bttv/bttv-gallery.html and he was cool with the idea! biggrin

So, there's now a mirror on the PVRHWDB at http://pvrhw.goldfish.org/bttv/bttv-gallery.html

Finally found and sourced a PSU for my PVR project! It's a 1U 180watt PSU (cache) from http://linitx.com/. biggrin

Also bought a PCI riser card from them aswell to be able to horizontally mount the PVR-250.

Now I just need to gut the old VCR case and start the build! I've just updated my page with photo's of the case I'm going to use.

After finally getting my new home machine ( newdire ) into a state i'm happy with, I've started doing a test upgrade from Tiki 1.5 to the latest Tiki 1.8.

Once I'm happy that the upgrade will go OK ( and I've re-integrated the PVRHWDB parts in a more future proof fashion ), I'll upgrade the main PVRHWDB site.

The new Tiki looks real good. They fixed a few niggling things like posting a reply auto fills in the subject field, etc so hopefully everyone will like the change biggrin

On a more personal note, I started my Radiotherapy treatment last week. So far so good, I feel fine. just another four weeks of daily treatment to go.

Woohoo! The site has just hit the 1 Million hits mark since going online!! We've also just passed the 400 registered members point aswell! biggrin

The Google banner ad's are going well aswell, with around 0.8% clickthru, so I should be able to start getting stuff for some of the PVR developers soon. Need to chase them on what they want tho - most of the wishlists i've seen have been non-computer, let alone pvr, related! confused

The server admin has just installed Tursk-mmcache (cache), a PHP accelerator, and the performance of Tiki has increased by about a factor of 2.5!!

You can now see all the PVRHWDB alot faster!! mrgreen

My first day back at work!! Finished the chemo last Tuesday and feel fine. Got Radiotherapy next but that doesn't start until the 26th. That will be a daily appointment at the hospital, but only for about twenty minutes hopefully.

Work took me out to a Thai resturant to celebrate my return! lol

Been without Internet access for the past few days while up re-install my main home server. Ditched Redhat and installed Gentoo for the first time. It's taken a few days to get up and running as it's not a point-click type install like Redhat, but I like it so far! biggrin

Looks like MythTV has had a new release while i've been without 'net access. Should be able to start building my new PVR shortly as I've found a UK source of 1U PSU's ...

Couple of changes today...

I've turned on the Google Banner Ads seeing as no one objected. Seems OK at the moment, mostly PVR related on the front page and in the database pages, although it seems to drift a bit when you go to slightly less travelled pages. See how it goes..

I've updated the PVR Entry page to add Fedora as a distribution, also ebox as a PVR Software choice, and a couple of different Hard Drive manufacturers.

Enjoy biggrin
